How to Asses your Requirements:
Objectives?
  • Your Safety - from burglars and home invaders
  • Property Protection - deterrent, evidence, identification levels
  • Internal and/or External - Public area or Private area
  • Check on Pets/Kids/Cleaners/Nannies from your office
  • Solutions
  • Your Safety - an external camera watch the entrance so you can see who is at the door,
  • Property - external as a deterrent to break ins and vandalism
  • Mix of Cameras - Do they need night vision
  • Internal Uses- this really depends on what you need to see. If you need to see into your nursery then a covert camera is good but still has to have cable.
  • Cameras
  • Standard Domes do not look good inside a house so we generally recommend some covert cameras, such as the smoke detector or PIR (alarm motion detector) cameras including dummy versions
  • Shoplifters - for identification or general recognition
  • Till view - High quality and good focus for real identification of money
  • Customer Safety - general cameras
  • Recording
  • Length of data retention is controlled by size of disk, how many frames per second are recorded for each camera and when are they recorder, motion, or live?
  • Different systems give varied recording lengths and as a rule this should not exceed 30 days under the data protection act and further guidelines for CCTV.
  • High quality cameras (entrance) will use more disk capacity than general cameras and should therefore generally be set to motion only. 2 seconds pre motion and 2 sec's post motion
  • Evidence from recordings needs to comply with certain rules and by and large needs images to be watermarked.
